Kanen

Kanen is from the Innu community of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam on Quebec's North Shore. Her song, Tshukain, was released on the collective album Nitehi Aimihewin (Musique Nomade) in September 2019. The following month, she released a highly anticipated three-song debut mini-EP; on it, the artist unveiled her sensitive folk universe reminiscent of the humor and sweetness of Les Sœurs Boulay, or the melancholy of Safia Nolin.

On stage, she delivers an intimate and touching show, marked by her mature voice accompanied by ukulele, double bass, guitar and energetic percussions. Kanen is part of the Nikamu Mamuitun / Chansons rassembleuses project; she took part in the 2019 Quebec tour where she shared the stage with Florent Vollant and Matiu.

With the wind under her wings, among others as a finalist of the 25th edition of the Francouvertes and a participant in the 2021 edition of the Festival Le Phoque Off, Kanen is a singer to keep on the radar!
